CAPITAL CAMPAIGN

Capital Campaign

From its start in the basement of a Baptist church in 1989, St. Thomas More Academy has taught and nurtured students at its Bristol Road campus with the knowledge that each day of instruction is a calling and a gift. STMA’s budget is just as humble as its beginnings, continuing from year-to-year thanks to the generosity of benefactors, the support of its families and more than a little grace from God.

The school has been blessed where so many other small Catholic institutions have succumbed to low enrollment and mounting costs. STMA, for almost 35 years, has faced similar challenges, but has been able to secure just enough tuition, donations and auction proceeds to make it to another graduation.

The Fund the Future Capital Campaign seeks to bring certainty and stability to the school’s finances. Ultimately, we endeavor to secure a future for countless other students seeking to know and love the faith. The campaign seeks donations from individuals and corporations that will benefit either capital improvements or the school’s investment fund.

Our Goal $500,000

Campaign Revenue

$5600

Will cover one student’s tuition for grades 9-12

$2150

Will cover school supplies

for an entire year

$3235

Will cover books

for an entire year

$300

Will cover chapel supplies

for an entire year

STMA Investment Fund

STMA has chosen Morgan Stanley as a vehicle to invest funds that will ultimately be used for operating expenses or eventual deposit into our Endowment Fund.

STMA's separate Endowment Fund is through the Catholic Foundation of the Diocese of Lansing, which has the goal of raising more than $300,000.  STMA plans to draw 4.5% yearly from the endowment fund once this goal is met.  As the fund grows, so will the annual yield that will produce a steady and stable income to help cover future capital improvements or even student scholarships.

The sooner STMA reaches its endowment goal, the better it can serve the future generations of students, families, and faculty.

Campaign Prayer

Lord, we are told that we pay you a compliment by asking great things of you. We come before you today asking for your blessing on the Fund the Future campaign for St. Thomas More Academy.

We ask that you open the hearts of those who hear of this campaign. That you instill in them a desire to give generously, so that we might meet our goal of achieving financial security for a school which aims to form future leaders who are well rounded spiritually, humanly, and academically who can then carry your name into the world.

We pray for past, present, and future students of St. Thomas More Academy that the formation they receive,

they take zealously with them into the vocation to which you call them.

We pray for the faculty and staff of St. Thomas More who give of their talents daily in order to fulfill your mission

here on earth.

We pray for all those helping with this campaign, that like the school’s patron, Saint Thomas More and its founders,

Joe and Jean LeBlanc, they will be filled with the same virtues of fortitude and perseverance.

Lastly, we thank you Lord in advance for a successful campaign and for our answered prayers. Amen.

"Over the course of 13 years, I grew in knowledge, faith, character and passion. Without the people at STMA, and mostly Jesus, which the school is centered on,

I don't know where I would be today."
